Dear RarelyWritten Author,

Thank you for writing for me! These characters are near and dear to my heart and I’m very excited that someone will write me a story with one of them. Optional details are optional, of course, but if you're like me and like to have lots of info to work with, I've tried to provide some on the sorts of things I like (and don't) and give prompts for each of my requests.

GENERAL STUFF

Pairings/Sex/Ratings:
Likes:
-With most of these ladies I’m primarily interested in Het or Gen. However, I do enjoy Femslash and I have a special love for Slash, so it is very welcome in the background if you’d like.
-All ratings up to R
-A focus on the romantic/emotional aspect of a relationship and some semblance of a plot/point rather than just sex.
-Love-triangles, complicated relationship dynamics, relationships that take some effort/time to work, loving each other but because [insert reasons here] not always being able to be together/communicate those feelings, etc in this vain.
-Romantic partners who genuinely adore each other.
-Feminine women; femme/femme dynamics for femslash.

Dislikes/Rather-Nots
-Threesomes/moresomes and polyamory.
-Incest (unless specifically asked for).
-Parings with large age disparity (over 15 years) unless specifically asked for.
-Pedophilia (please keep minors in sexual relationships with adults 16 and over; if both partners are teens 14-15 is ok if treated appropriately).
-NC-17 and PWPs
-BDSM, omegaverse, and most kink. (Not included in this: foreplay; bantery/lighthearted roleplay for the purposes of foreplay; preferences for a certain sexual position, fascination with a partner’s physical trait, such as, e.g., preferring redheads or virgins or younger partners or being fascinated by someone’s shoulders; rough/aggressive/desperate sex or outside-of-bedroom inequalities that transfer into the bedroom, even though there may be pining down of wrists or some other element that could be considered a kink or part of BDSM.)
-Foot fetishes (I know I said liking specific body parts is fine, but ah, feet are the exception).
-Humiliation (both sexual and not)
-Non-con/rape (dub-con that leans toward/ends up as consensual is ok).
-Mpreg; cross-dressing; genderbending/genderswap.
-Bestiality; assigned/predetermined partner or mate tropes; soulbond tropes.

Genres/Themes (and such):
Likes:
-Angst, drama. (Generally, I’m ok with dark!fic too, but please don’t try to use this as a challenge to see how many angst/dark tropes you can fit into a single fic. I enjoy dark themes and things like character death don’t bother me, but if it feels like it’s just a marathon of horrible things happening with no light anywhere to be seen…that might be a little too intense for me.)
-Humor is fun too, but I like it more as an element in the story rather than a story that sets out to be funny first and foremost.
-Fluff and cuteness.
-Banter; friendship; themes of loyalty.
-Well-rounded characters, characters with emotions/motives; the “other side of the story”.

Dislikes:
-Crack!fic, parody.
-Radical AUs that subvert the universe (eg: genderswaping the cast, setting a modern fandom as a fairytale, turning a historical fandom all Sifi, etc. This includes stuff like A/B/O and inserting magic/supernatural elements into a non-magic/supernatural universe).
-Crossovers.
-Character bashing; intentional OOCness.
-Any sort of glorification of bullying, or bullying being excused/condoned in the narrative (this includes things like victim blaming, etc).
-Narrative implications that “sex = love” or that romantic partners HAVE to have sex to have a “valid” relationship or to be “really” in love with each other.

FANDOMS

War and Peace
Helene Kuragin. I’m constantly on the fence about Helene. She is so manipulative and ruthless at times but there’s so much strength in there too and she’s so fascinating that it’s hard to just ignore her. She’s gorgeous, she knows how to get what she wants in a society ruled by men and it seems to me like she’s very close to her father and her younger brother (Anatole). I kind of feel like a lot of her manipulation is a passive-aggressive response to social pressure and expectations. And Pierre was just an awful choice and she, sadly, realized just how awful. Dolokhov/Helene are a HUGE LOVE of mine. They’re great on a whole spectrum of genres and themes. A pre-book teenage romance, their affair after Helene’s marriage, an exploration of the class issues standing between them… I think they can range anywhere from sweet and beautiful, if hopeless, romance to something dark, passionate, complicated and possibly selfish. I think with them I would love to see a “mature” relationship. I think they’re both characters that put up with a lot. On a more scandalous note the Anatole/Helene pairing is one of the very few incest pairings that I ship. It’s just hinted at in canon and it’s just a rumor, but these two have massive chemistry. (I blame the 2007 miniseries for this honestly.) Just please, don’t normalize it, incest isn’t really a normative behavior nor should it be. But I would love to see this very close brother-sister relationship with a sexual tension (unresolved or not) layer and how this effects them and their lives. I see this as a darker, more angsty fic but you can take it wherever it takes you, so to speak. Honestly, though, I would love anything with Helene and Anatole and maybe the rest of the Kuragins. Gen works just as well here.

Sonya Rostov. I’m not sure what prompt to give you but let me just say that I love her and I’m sure I would be pleased with just about anything you write centered on her. (Although…I don’t like Natasha so maybe…something with less Natasha rather than more would be nice.) Sonya is a character I relate to a lot and is probably my favorite female character in lit. I love her ability to sacrifice her happiness for that of others and I love how she is still a strong woman in her own way without being a feminist at all. It's an inner sort of strength that isn't always obvious at first sight. Dolokhov/Sonya is a het OTP of mine. I really think they could both have a happy ending. I wouldn’t mind an AU where Sonya accepts his proposal or at some point realizes Nikolai isn’t worth waiting for or something. I would even more love a post-war fic because then Nikolai is married and Sonya has no ties to him anymore. (I think this is important because I somehow feel it would have diminished Sonya in Dolokhov’s eyes had she “jumped” men at the time that he proposed.) I would love-love-love for them to have a happy ending together. I think this could be such a sweet pairing! However, I would also enjoy a Pierre/Sonya ship. As strange as that might sound, I think Sonya is a better match for Pierre than Natasha anyways. A canon Nikolai/Sonya paring is fine too. Ooooh, maybe an affair during Nikolai’s marriage once he’s realized he made a mistake leaving Sonya ;)

Suits
Dana Scott. I really like Dana. I was kind of mad that the show kept making “sacrifices” of her competence as a lawyer in order to make sure Harvey remains unbeatable. On that note, I would actually love to see Dana beat Harvey on a case for once. On the other hand, I love Harvey/Dana and would love anything with that paring, either during canon, post-canon or pre-canon during their Harvard days. I really want Harvey to be in love with her, because it doesn’t show much on the show even though they seem to keep insisting that he does have feelings for her. Alternatively, I think a Dana/Stephen paring would be fun or even a Dana/Donna paring! Basically, smart, sexy lawyer girls = win.

Downton Abbey
Edith Crawley. Edith gets the short end of the stick, so to speak, way too often. I felt really bad for her even in the very beginning because with Mary as a sister, well… Fight fire with fire, so to speak. (Mary is really extra horrible to her.) I would love mostly anything with Edith where she gets to be number one for once. But I think I would especially love a fic where Michael comes back and where they are happy together and in love. (Basically AU now, I know, but since when has that ever stopped anyone?) Alternatively, some sister-bonding with Sybill would be fun. Bonding with Marygold, especially when Marygold is older. Ooh, maybe Marygold’s first season out in society and all the excitement surrounding that or something. I just want Edith to be happy.

Екатерина | Catherine (2014)
Elizabeth Vorontsova. Canon not to be confused with the 2015 show Catherine the Great. That’s a different show :) You can see this canon here on youtube in multiple parts (albeit, in Russian only). Anyway, more to the point: Lisa was awesome and heartbreaking! I loved her relationship with Peter, I loved how happy she made him, how happy they made each other. I loved her spunk and quirkiness and outspokenness, which totally rubbed good old over-proper society the wrong way. Also, are we even surprised that 18th century society is crazy ableist? I’m not saying that because I want an issue fic, but more because I just loved how Liza’s limp, which made her “damaged goods” to society, even in the eyes of her sister, was not something that stopped her. I don’t really have a concrete prompt – I’d be good with anything from a character study to just Peter/Liza fluff to everything in between. IDK, maybe some friendship with Brockdorff – they could both use a friend after Peter’s death to commiserate with, and seem to be the only two people (except for maybe Shuvalov) who are 100 percent on his side. Feel free to use anything you can gleam from historical sources, but I’m looking for show-fic more than Historical RPF so show canon/characterizations should trump historical facts/speculations/etc.

Harry Potter
Cassiopeia Black. Cass is a door wide open, because we don’t know much of anything about her except for immediate family members, approximate time that she was alive, that her younger brother was a squib and that she never married. There’s a lot of space for exploration there. I would be interested in seeing how her relationship with Marius plays out. How old was she when he was disowned? How did she feel about it? Did they keep in touch afterwards? What was their relationship like overall?  As another option, some sort of exploration of why she never married. I would love some sort of sexual orientation based explanation here: maybe she’s asexual or a lesbian. With the latter, I would actually love to see Cass paired with one of the wives of her brother or cousins in a secret relationship. It could be wonderfully tragic and/or bittersweet.
