Arrggghhh this is like the worst timing in the world!

So I got the Blue Screen of Death last night. Since then my computer has been acting super weird. On it's own, it seems to be doing fine, but I think it's kinda broken a little. It's doing some weird thing where it won't charge the battery(ies - I have two) even though it says "plugged in, charging" and one of these batteries is like half a year old so it's unlikely that it's the batter. One the other hand, it's not the charger, I don't think, becasue the laptop works find on the charger without the battery in it. And, it's not even that it won't charge at all. Sometimes, when I have one battery in and then take it out and put in the other one in it will charge, then I'll take it off the charger, put it back on and it won't charge again. The stupid thing is that even when it's on the charger, instead of simply NOT charging and staying on one level, the battery goes DOWN.

The kicker is that I got a new laptop with windows 8 as like a grad present but it's at home and it's gonna take time to transition all the programs on this laptop to that laptop and I don't want to have to go home to do it right now but the worst part is that I just found out that my photoshop and some of my other adobe software will not be compatible with Windows 8 and God knows what else might not be compatible... and I don't have the money to upgrade to the new Adobe creative suit becasue it's like 600 dollars even for the student version (which is cheaper). Have NO idea what I'm gonna do now about that.

BUT all of this could be figured out except that this is the worst time for these issues becasue I"M LEAVING FOR RUSSIA IN 2 WEEKS. Right after graduation. I'm going for TWO moths. I'm kinda nervous to take a semi-broken laptop but taking my new one could be worse, because I'd want to break it in first, so to speak, and a bunch of my software will not work on it! D:

I've had a suspicion that something's up with my computer for a while. Not that long ago - like a couple of months ago -- it crashed on me and when I finally started it up again, the battery said it was at zero when it had been on the charger. However, that time, it had no issues recharging. It also crashed on me randomly the first time earlier this spring, however that time I didn't think to check on the battery but even if it did do something weird it didn't have any issues recharging back up. I had other battery troubles back in December but I don't know if those were related at all. I think one of the batteries had just gone kaput from being old and the other one wasn't actually having problems apparently. And I think the last time I had battery issues it was also due to an old battery...I think, I don't remember anymore.

But this time it seems to consistently just not want to charge my batteries. It's...awful and weird and WTF is going on? Anyone ever have anything similar?

Did you have windows 7 before that? Are 8 and 7 really different? I never made the switch from Vista. I know everyone hates on Vista but I've had very few problems with it and I really hated the look/feel of the 7 OS. I wouldn't want to go back to XP (even though I liked fine back when I had it) but I'm not exactly crazy about having to switch to W8. IDK, I just kinda hate switching computers period, it's a lot of hassle every time.

Agh for all that I love my Iphone I hate the Mac OS, especially it's look/feel. I'm not techy enough to get a kick out of any techy spec stuff (although, from what I understand, most of my engineer friends hate Mac). I know the screen resolution and stuff is supposed to be better and stuff, but seeing as I have extremely low vision it's pretty much a non-issue for me, becasue I can't really tell the difference in resolution after a certain point.
