There is one memory I definitely won't forget (a bad one, I guess, although it's kind of hard to put a mood on it. I was kind of numb/strangely calm in that moment) that I won't put on this list. It was a long time ago and not very relevant now. And it's not something I'd be very comfortable talking about even under flock. Thinking about it, I have a lot of great memories and some bad ones that I will probably never forget, choosing four is strange. Also, I realized that some of the clearest ones aren't necessarily very significant moments in my life. They're kinda of...a flash of an every day moment that for some reason has imprinted itself vividly on my memory, although there were probably many like it. But well, here it goes...
1. Going home for the summer after my freshman year of college. I'm in the front seat with mom. The back seats have been put down and the car is packed with all my stuff. We're driving down the coast with the ocean on our right and the mountains, still bright green, on the left. The sun is bright and I have three months of vacation ahead of me. I'm, amazingly, done with my first year of college (and living with a roommate). I'm a little awestruck at it all, but mostly happy.
2. Biking home after dance one night. I can't even remember which night it is, or even which year of college...but probably senior. It's winter so the night is cold. I'm in a sweater and coat, my sweatpants and uggs. The bag with my shoes is over the handlebars. Just that feeling of biking down the street with the crisp air in my face after practice, thinking: dear God, I'm so fucking happy right now.
3. Prom. Dancing with my date. A slow song -- some slow cover/arrangement of Taylor Swift's "Love Story" I believe. And I'm thinking: this. If I could just have this always.
4. Going to the beach that one night freshman year of college with half our dorm. It was pitch black at the beach. In fact, it was drizzling lightly, but still pretty warm. We were in our bathingsuits and ran around in the waves for a bit. It was crazy and one of my first tastes of college freedom <3
Shit. Even though these were all happy memories, I still ended up all teary-eyed...
