Your icons are unique. I can't get your Anatole out of my mind. It's like he's nattering at me to help him find the Hat, but JKR says even if the Hat makes a mistake it won't change, but it rarely makes mistakes. Source: Pottermore.
Anatole, where your heart is, there will your house be also.
I think my icons sometimes reveal my obsession over some parings lol.
A lot of people interpreted that story as sad. If it's sad then only because had Anatole been in another House he may have not gotten involved in the war given that he's French. However, I can't say that he was unhappy in his House. In all my other stories he is perhaps not the center of attention but not isolated by any means and certainly not unhappy.
I think most people naturally fit in at least two of the houses and potentially have traits from all four. From canon we know that the Hat was thinking of putting Harry in Slytherin but he CHOSE Gryffindor. And I wouldn't be surprised if Ron had been offered Hufflepuff and Gryffindor and chose the latter because his family was there and there were expectations for him to be in that House. What this says to me is that there's always an element of free will in life. We may be more inclined to one thing or another but once it gets to a certain point we can chose and our choices can be influenced by various factors. For some, like Anatole, the sorting may be an interesting crossbreed between choice and fate.
choice and fate is a good way to put it. When I was eleven I would have wanted Ravenclaw but end in Slytherin because I know and so does that Hat that I am a Slytherin, no matter if I wave a blue eagle banner or not. Eleven is too young to make a decision that impacts your life until your last breath. I can see Ron choosing Gryff over Huffle, and Hermione Gryff over Claw. So Gryffindor seems to be the house of those who wish it, not are destined for it. Opposite of your general SLytherin.
